Hail and heavy rain fall in Adelaide as cold snap hits south-eastern Australia

Hail has hit Adelaide's CBD and inner-north as a mass of cold air sits over Australia's south-east.

The hail hit the area about 1pm, following heavy rain.

ABC Radio Adelaide producer Natasha Thiele filmed hail falling in her backyard at Sefton Park.

I cannot believe the hailstones — not huge but little, like normal size — however thousands and thousands and thousands and then it sort of doubled in strength. I sort of can't believe it," she said.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Simon Timcke said the hail had been forecast and it was possible there could be more today.
