Three firefighters suffered heat-related injuries – including one requiring ambulance treatment – while battling a blaze in dangerous conditions in the foothills.
As of 12.30pm on Monday, the CFS had dispatched 18 units and six aircraft to Highbury, in the north-eastern foothills, contain a blaze in difficult terrain near the intersection of Gorge Rd and Corkscrew Rd at Highbury.
Two firefighters battling the blaze were overcome with heat and forced to return to their trucks to cool down, while another was treated by ambulance crews at the scene for an injury to their eye.
