Axe used to smash into Drakes Supermarket in Adelaide

A boy has been charged and another is on the run after an axe was used to smash through the window of a supermarket in Adelaide.

Security measures ultimately stopped the suspects from leaving with anything, but staff at Drakes Supermarket in North Haven were met with a costly mess on Monday morning.

One of the offenders tried to force open a cigarette cabinet but realised there was no way in and fled empty-handed with his mate, who was waiting outside.

The incident played out about 12.30am.
