Brave SA terror victim Kirsty Boden honoured with posthumous medal

Losing a child is the ultimate tragedy but for the parents of heroic nurse Kirsty Boden, their heartbreak was tempered with great pride.

Ken and Christina Boden, of Loxton, graciously accepted an Australian Bravery Medal – awarded to Kirsty, 28, for an act of outstanding courage – at a Queen’s Honours investiture ceremony at Government House.

Kirsty was recognised for ignoring her own safety to help several victims of the London Bridge terror attack in June 2017.

Tragically, she was stabbed to death as she treated a critically injured waiter.

Dubbed the “Angel of London Bridge”, Kirsty told her friends: “I’m a nurse, I have to go help” as she ran to the aid of others.
