Commuters will be able to catch a free driverless shuttle from the Playford Alive Township to Munno Para railway station, under a trial launched by the State Government.
Running about every half-hour on weekdays, the electric bus will make stops including at Mark Oliphant College and the Stretton Centre. It will include a morning and afternoon “service window”, with passengers collected from designated pick up points on the route.
Transport Minister Stephan Knoll said the Government was exploring “innovative opportunities to provide better public transport services”.
“This trial is a great example of how we can embrace new technology to deliver better services and fill gaps that exist in our network,” he said.
“SA is ahead of the curve in this space having launched Australia’s first on-road trial on an autonomous shuttle at Tonsley in June last year.”
