Adelaide’s retail scene is bucking the downturn in other parts of Australia, fuelled by customers demanding a more personalised shopping experience, according to the latest data from point of sale software company Vend.
The Retail Benchmarks data shows independent retailers in Adelaide are bucking the national retail downturn to ring in 24 per cent growth in average transaction value over a 12-month period.
Average transaction values increased from AU$46.32 in 2018 to $57.70 in 2019, equating to more than double the national average increase of 11.18 per cent during the same period.
Independent retailers in Adelaide are outperforming merchants in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne – Australia’s shopping destinations – as shoppers look for beautifully curated product ranges in their neighbourhood stores, locally made and crafted from quality materials.
